Girl Scouts take action in many ways--through direct service in their community, by educating others, and by advocating for issues that better their community. Join us at the Roundhouse to learn more about the legislative process.  Meet local legislators and decision makers.  See how laws are made.  Learn how you can make a difference!

Join us February 20, 2017 from 9am-12pm at the Roundhouse.  For more information, contact Carol Ann at

Curious about Girl Scout Day at the Roundhouse? This is a day where Girl Scouts, their troops, and their families are encouraged to visit the New Mexico state capitol. There is not a set program or agenda for the day, rather we encourage Scouts and visitors to tour the Roundhouse, meet their local legislators, and learn more about the legislative process. Registration is not required. The best way to start your visit at the Roundhouse is to take a guided tour. You can arrange a tour at the information desk or call ahead at 505-986-4589 to arrange for a tour. Each tour is different ... we learn something new each time!

What time should you get there? We usually suggest to arrive by 9:30 or 10:00am as the legislators will start to enter the House and Senate chambers at this time. You can view the legislators at work by sitting in the gallery (ask a security guard or your tour guide where to go and they will show you).

Have fun and ask a lot of questions! This is your day to explore the Roundhouse and to learn more about how YOU can make a difference and have a voice.

Where is the Roundhouse? The state capitol is located at the corner of Old Santa Fe Trail and Paseo de Peralta in Santa Fe. Parking is available for free at 420 Galisteo Street (the parking deck across the street from the Roundhouse).

Want to meet your legislator? Go to the New Mexico Legislature website and search for your legislator. You can find their contact information for the Roundhouse. Many legislators are happy to set up meetings with people from their community.   If you meet your legislator, what will you share?

Spending the day in Santa Fe? While you are in Santa Fe, consider working on the Ancient Capitol Walking Tour council patch. These patch requirements will take you to some very interesting historic places. Click here for the link to the council patch requirements.
