Spend time in the Barker Kitchen learning to be a culinary chef. You will have challenge each day such as cookies, brownies and other gourmet treats. Take home a recipe bag to show off your new baking skills. Work off those extra calories hiking or challenging yourself on ropes course or archery range.
Let your artist free to explore! Make jewelry, create tie-dye, drawing, candles, the pallet is yours. Display your awesome projects in Camp Barkers first art show. Creativity won’t stop in the art center, get creative in the kitchen and outdoors. Get inspiration when you hike to our outdoor stage. Play some drama games and create artistic dance. Head to Taos to explore the many artist that make their living selling various art. Leave with a drawing book ready to be filled.
Challenge yourself! Spend your first few days learning climbing techniques on our low and high ropes course. Head out of camp to test your new skills on more challenging rock faces and learn about rappelling. Still have time to visit the art center and do some outdoor cooking. Plan and overnight to do some star gazing if you choose as well.
Using various means of navigation such as maps, compass, trail signs and GPS, discover where you will be staying each night. Learn to pitch a tent and build shelter. Cookout most of your meals. Sleep under the stars and learn about astronomy and constellations. Try out the high ropes course and archery. This is the beginning level in our backpacking series.
