Your Girl Can Lead Our Discussion on Racism, Equity and Inclusion

One Girl Scout can make a difference but together we can change the world

A recent listening session conducted by GSUSA showed that girls don’t feel like they are getting a good education about racism at school and that they are concerned that they don’t have a single source of information for truth about what is happening in our country right now. Girls also said that they believe it is the responsibility for Girl Scouts to do something, and that they want to be a part of the solution.

Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails is putting together a working group of girl members to help guide our discussions and provide direction on how we can become the most diverse, equitable and inclusive organization we can be. Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors are encouraged to participate in an upcoming Zoom meeting to provide their thoughts on race and diversity, and over time come to a consensus on what role they want our Council to play in a solution. Participating girls will also have an opportunity to participate in a National Summit with other Girl Scouts from across the country.

Interested girls (or parents of interested girls) may ask questions and express their intent to participate by emailing [email protected] by July 5, 2020.
