Camperships

In an effort to make camp an experience available to all girls, need-based Camperships are available for one session to girls demonstrating need.

About Camperships

Campership amounts are determined on a case-by-case and dependent on household income, documentation of free/reduced lunch, and documentation of SNAP benefits.

Campership applications are reviewed using a formula that includes the information above, and determinations are made per application.

Notification of the campership award is emailed to the camper's family within 10 business days of the application deadline.

  • Camperships are only available for ONE camp session per camper and are due by May 1, 2023.
  • This is separate from Juliette Funds; Juliettes may use their product program funds and apply for campership like one would use troop funds to attend camp.
  • Camperships and Opportunity Funds cannot be combined.
    • If you’re looking for assistance to attend Troop or Family camp, please apply through the Opportunity Fund.
How to Apply

First, start the registration for your camp session on CampMinder and submit your deposit to hold your place. Second, complete this form. The form must be completed in full and all required documentation attached for consideration. Incomplete forms or forms without the required documentation will not be considered.

Opportunity Fund

The Opportunity Fund provides support to members to participate fully in Girl Scouts. The Opportunity Fund is a reflection of our commitment to continue to better serve our members, providing girls in New Mexico the opportunity to become one of our future community leaders and the women they want to be.

About the Opportunity Fund

The Opportunity Fund is supported by the Cookie Program, individual donors, volunteer match, corporate gifts and fundraising efforts. This fund was designed to provide financial assistance and opportunities for girl members, adult volunteers, Troops, and Service Units, to make sure more girls in all communities across our council have the opportunity to benefit from Girl Scouting.

How to Apply

To apply to the Opportunity Fund, it is required that the form is completed accurately and submitted by the required deadlines.

Opportunity Fund applications are reviewed on a monthly basis. Applications must be received by the 1st Monday of the month in order to be reviewed, approved, and processed on the 3rd Tuesday of every month.

1. Opportunity Fund Application:  This form is for girl membership fees, council service fees, Journey Books, Girl Guides, membership pins, event requests including individual participation in an event or travel opportunity (including Juliette requests), Troop event and travel support, and Service Unit event support. This form is not used to request camp assistance; please use a Campership Application unless you are specifically accessing Juliette Funds.

2. Juliette Fund - Girl Scout Juliettes, girls who are registered as Individually Registered Girl Scouts, may request fund from the Juliette Fund to pay for council-approved events at the council or Service Unit level, official insignia and uniforms, GSUSA destinations, camp, and membership dues and/or council service fee for membership. Funds should be requested on the Opportunity Fund form by marking the box “Juliette Fund”.

Program Vouchers

Through the Girl Scout Cookie Sale, girls can set their cookie sale goals to earn Program Vouchers which can pay for GSNMT events and camp AND Service Unit events!

About Program Credits

As part of cookie program rewards, you have the option to select program credits instead of physical rewards. Currently, program credits can be used for the reminder for the 2021-2022 Girl Scout year and for some of the 2022-2023 Girl Scout year. These credits can be used for council programs, council events, council camps, Service Unit events, or extended troop trips (troop trips that are 3 nights or longer).

The credits are non-transferable between Girl Scouts and will expire on 4/30/2023 for the 2022 Girl Scout Cookie Program.

Using Program Credits

With council event, program, and camp registration now fully online,  program credits will be credited to your online account. When paying for an event, please check the “Apply Program Credits” box when choosing your payment option.

If the registration fee is the same amount as the program credits, the credits will pay 100% of the fee leaving a zero-balance due. If the registration fee is smaller than the amount of program credits earned, any remaining credits will be available for future use. If the registration fee is more than the program credits available, the credits will be applied, and there will be a balance due (notated in red when you return back to the MYGS system and log back in).

If you would like to use your program credits for a Service Unit event or extended troop trip, you need to speak with your troop volunteers. Troop volunteers will know the next steps and if they do not, they can reach out to their local membership staff member.

Refund / Cancellation Policy

Cancellations & Refunds

Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails (GSNMT) strives to ensure that each council-led program, activity, and event is conducted in the safest and most secure manner possible. To meet those high standards, it is necessary that strict registration protocols are followed to allow our staff/technology the ability to keep track of which girl and adult members are attending any given event.

GSNMT recognizes the necessity for girl and adult members to have some level of flexibility in needing to cancel a registration. GSNMT also understands the occasional need for a substitute registration when an adult cancellation threatens participation by a Girl Scout troop that requires a designated number of Safety-Wise Adults.

It is important to note that GSNMT sets minimum and maximum attendance requirements for all programs and events, and GSNMT reserves the right to cancel or change any scheduled event if those attendance requirements are not met or if the council cannot ensure the safety of all attendees for any reason. GSNMT will attempt to provide ample notification of a program cancellation to the primary contact whose name and email are listed on the registration. In any instance where a program, activity, or event is canceled by GSNMT, a full refund will be issued to the payor via the original payment method used.

If a registered attendee needs to cancel for any reason, full or partial credit may be issued to the girl or adult depending on the notice given to GSNMT and the specific requirements listed for the event. All cancellation requests must be made in writing to [email protected]. Requests should include the registered attendee’s name, address, program name and date, and reason for cancellation request.

Cancellation Requests for GSNMT Girl Members

  • When a cancellation request is received by the registration deadline, a full refund will be issued to the payor via the original payment method used.
  • When a cancellation request is received after the registration deadline but before 72 hours prior to the event, the girl member will receive a program credit for 100% of the registration fee, regardless of who registered the girl member or how it was paid for.
  • When a cancellation request is received less than 72 hours prior to the start of the event, the girl member will receive a program credit for 75% of the registration fee, regardless of who registered the girl member or how it was paid for.
  • When a cancellation request involves council Opportunity Funds those funds will be returned to the council.

Cancellation Requests for Safety-Wise Adults

  • When a cancellation request is received by the registration deadline, a full refund will be issued to the payor via the original payment method used.
  • When a cancellation request is received after the registration deadline but before 72 hours prior to the event, the adult member will receive a program credit for 100% of the registration fee, regardless of who registered the adult member or how it was paid for.
  • When a cancellation request is received less than 72 hours prior to the start of the event, the adult member will receive a program credit for 75% of the registration fee, regardless of who registered the adult member or how it was paid for.
  • When a cancellation request is made for a Safety-Wise Adult, and that cancellation threatens a troop’s ability to participate in the event, GSNMT will make every reasonable effort to provide additional support so that a troop may still participate.
    • During business hours, contact Customer Care at (505) 343-1040 and request assistance fulfilling your troop’s Safety-Wise Adult ratio.
    • Outside of business hours, call the emergency contact number on the event’s email confirmation and request assistance fulfilling your troop’s Safety-Wise Adult ratio.
    • Please note that the emergency contact number will not be answered two hours prior to the start of the event.
  • When a cancellation request involves council Opportunity Funds those funds will be returned to the council.

Tips for Troop Leaders

  • At this time, GSNMT is not able to accommodate “swaps” for girl or adult members. Please only register girl and adult members who can commit to attending with your group.
  • If you need to make a change to your troop’s registration, you are encouraged to add the new participant first before the registration deadline, then make the request to cancel the member no longer able to participate. This will increase the likelihood that you will secure a space for the new participant. Read above for the process to request a refund for cancellation.
  • When possible, register one extra Safety-Wise Adult than the required number for troop safety to ensure that your troop’s participation will not be in jeopardy if an adult needs to cancel suddenly.
  • Girl or adult members not registered for an event or program will not be permitted to enter or participate.
  • To ensure more girls are able to participate, GSNMT may limit the number of Safety-Wise Adults who will be permitted to register for certain events. This information will be shared on the registration page.
  • Some events may require more notice for a cancellation request than what is outlined in this document due to the volume of participants or the obligations GSNMT is required to fulfill with a third party. This information will be shared on the registration page.
  • If you need support prior to an event when the council office is closed, please contact the emergency contact on the confirmation email. Calls will not be answered 2 hours prior to the event. Please be proactive if you have an emergency to help us best support you and your troop.
