• Portales Outdoor Core.  May 25-26 (noon-noon) at Oasis State Park.  $10 per person.
• GSNMT Outdoor Expo!  June 22 (9am-4pm) at Camp Elliott Barker.  $12 per person.
• Albuquerque Outdoor Core.  June 29-30 (noon-noon) at Albuquerque Office.  $10 per person.

Camping 101, Camping 101PA, and Outdoor Core

Three Classes in One!  Camping 101, Camping 101PA, and Outdoor Core are three sessions blended into one awesome experience for all ages.  Adults and girls sign up to attend at the same time and learn together.  If your troop is ready to explore the great outdoors, these are the programs for you! 

Camping 101: For Daisies, Brownies, & Juniors to learn and practice awesome outdoor camping skills!

Camping 101PA:  For Cadettes, Seniors, & Ambassadors to learn how to teach girls outdoor skills and plan an adventure with safety in mind! 

Outdoor Core:  For Adults.   This course is designed to prepare you to take your troop on an outdoor adventure. You will learn how to safely take girls on hikes and car camping trips to developed campgrounds. The focus is on strategies for allowing girls to safely and successfully learn, practice and master basic hiking and camping skills—actually practicing these strategies with younger girls.

Want to become an Outdoor Core / Camping 101 Facilitator?

Outdoor Core Facilitator.  Outdoor Core Facilitators will lead the Outdoor Core/Camping 101/Camping 101PA course.  This course is designed to teach girls and adults to go hiking and go on car camping trips to developed campgrounds.  The focus of the course is on strategies for allowing girls to safely and successfully learn and master basic hiking and camping skills.  This is a blended course offering the two girl level programs and the adult education.  The facilitator course requires a minimum of two weekends; the first to observe and assist with a session, and the second to co-teach a session.  

Requirements to attend this course: 

• Extensive camping and hiking experience
• CPR/First Aid Certification
• Completion of “Facilitating Adult Learning” (formerly “Train the Trainer”)   If this has not been completed prior to attending the course it can be completed at a later time.
