Whether you joined us in Albuquerque in September for our special event with Sylvia Acevedo or are just discovering her story, this opportunity is open to all Girl Scouts and families who want to be inspired by Path to the Stars!

Former NASA rocket scientist and Girl Scout alum Sylvia Acevedo shares her powerful journey from a young girl in a small New Mexico town to one of the first Latina engineers at NASA. Her story celebrates family, community, and the strength that comes from Girl Scout sisterhood.

Every Girl Scout can experience the magic of this story at home with our self-guided book club packet and exclusive fun patch-a perfect companion to the book Path to the Stars. The packet includes creative activities, reflection prompts, and conversation starters that connect Sylvia's experiences to girls' own dreams and goals.

Reading Path to the Stars together is a meaningful way to:

  • Celebrate the importance of family and Girl Scout support in building courage and confidence.

  • Encourage curiosity, perseverance, and education as tools for achieving big dreams.

  • Remind girls that dreams grow stronger when shared with others who believe in you.

As Sylvia writes, "I felt hopeful. If these girls and their leaders cared so much about how to pass scissors, how much more would they care about other things?"
