During this special program at Explora, Daisies will engage in an interactive exploration of motion and design through hands-on investigation of rolling systems. Using recycled materials, cups, and marbles, participants will observe how different shapes roll and compare how each one behaves. This guided exploration sets the foundation for their mechanical engineering experience.
The program continues with a structured series of activities connected to the Mechanical Engineering: Roller Coaster badge. Daisies will begin by creating a simple roller coaster car. They will then use their observations and new understanding of rolling motion to build a model roller coaster designed for marbles. After construction, participants will test their roller coasters to see how their design choices affect performance.
This event includes one hour of museum exploration followed by a one-hour program session.
