Aloha kākou - welcome to Winter Waves! 🌺
This year, Camp Elliott Barker transforms into a mountain
paradise where snow meets sea and warmth meets wonder. Spend the
afternoon sliding on snow "waves," building snowy sea
creatures, and creating colorful crafts that bring island brightness
to the mountains.
Inside the dining hall, gather for hands-on stations where campers can craft items inspired by Hawaiian storytelling - like flower crowns, simple hula implements, glowing paper stars, and props for our evening stories. These crafts will become part of the night's interactive storytelling experience, connecting campers to the rich traditions of Hawaiian legends.
As the sun sets, we'll come together by the indoor firelight for Island Legends: Stories of Pele and Maui - two tales of creation, courage, and respect for nature. With props, sound effects, and camper participation, the stories come to life as we learn about Hawaiian values of balance, generosity, and aloha āina (love of the land).
End the night with music, laughter, warm cocoa, limbo, and a celebration of all the light we can bring to winter. Pack your brightest colors, your warmest gloves, and your biggest spirit of adventure - it's time to make waves that last all season long!
