Virtual
The first Grand Slam of the tennis season is about to begin!
Join Girl Scouts and their families for a two-part virtual Scout Bracketology adventure as we follow the female athletes in the 2027 Australian Open.
Across two live Zoom sessions, participants will learn how tournament brackets work, make predictions, follow the competition, and discover what it takes to compete at the highest level of professional tennis.
Along the way, we'll explore the fascinating science and innovation behind the sport.
Discover how racket design, court surfaces, ball physics, and player movement affect every match, while learning how data, strategy, and quick decision-making help athletes succeed. Through fun challenges, prediction activities, and hands-on demonstrations using everyday materials, participants will see how science, technology, engineering, and problem-solving are all part of the game.
We'll also travel virtually to Australia, exploring its incredible wildlife, geography, landmarks, and culture as the tournament unfolds.
Whether you're a lifelong tennis fan or completely new to the sport, this series is designed to be welcoming, interactive, and fun for all ages. Participants will complete their own championship bracket, track tournament results between meetings, and see how their predictions compare as the competition comes to an exciting finish.
