The Troop Chile Award

The Troop Chile Award is an annual recognition program honoring troops who achieve high standards in Girl Scouting through troop activities during the "Chile" year (October 1 - September 30) and represents a well-rounded troop.

Each troop will receive:

A congratulatory letter and troop Chile certificate
The Chile Award patch and "2023-2024" bar patch, compliments of Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails
Recognition in our November Girl Scout Gazette monthly email, a special highlight in a Troop Essentials weekly email, and posted on the recognitions page of our council website

Troop Chile Award

Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scout troops must complete eight (8) of the below options

Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scout troops must complete eleven (11) of the below options

Participate in Early Bird/Spring Renewal with a minimum of 60% of girls renewed by June 30; if a new troop, 60% of the troop must be registered by September 30.
Helps increase girl or adult membership by adding two Girl Scouts to your troop, recruiting a new leader or adult volunteer to your troop, or helping at a recruitment event at the service unit or council level.
Attend a minimum of five service unit meetings.
Attend one overnight experience with your troop.
Complete a Girl Scout Journey & Take Action Project.
Adults in your troop attend two of the following training opportunities during the membership year:
- Service Unit Team Conference
- Volunteer Expo
- Outdoor Core Training
- Volunteer Essentials
- CPR/First Aide Training
- Wilderness First Aide Training
- Travel Training
- Troop Talk Sessions
- gsLearn Training
- Youth Mental Health First Aide
Submit your Year End Activity Report (YEAR) to your Regional Manager by the July 1 deadline.
Participation in the Fall Product Program with at least 60% of your registered Girl Scouts participating.
Participation in the Girl Scout Cookie Program with at least 60% of your registered Girl Scouts participating.
Participate in a public Girl Scout promotional opportunity.
Attend three service unit events.
50% of Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors in your troop participate in a minimum of one of the following leadership roles:
- Holds a Girl Board position with GSNMT or as a council/national delegate
- Holds a Girl Service Unit Team position
- Is an active Program Aide/Volunteer-in-Training
- Holds an official position with your troop
- Is a Counselor-in-Training or Wrangler-in-Training at camp
- Is on a council-level planning committee
- Is in a non-Girl Scout leadership role (Student Council, Key Club, etc.)
Host a program activity for your Service Unit or a younger program-level troop
Your troop, or Girl Scouts from your troop, take an official babysitting course
Your troop, or Girl Scouts from your troop, take Teen Mentor Training
Your troop donates to the Juliette Gordon Low Friendship Fun (GSUSA), Opportunity Fund (GSNMT), or the GSNMT Annual Fund
Girl Scouts in your troop are working toward or have earned the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award this year
Your troop participated in a community service project
Troop leadership is using the Volunteer Toolkit (VTK)
Troop leadership serves in a leadership position on the Service Unit Team
Troop leadership or adult member of the troop has been nominated for a Volunteer Recognition during the spring Appreciation Luncheon and Ceremony

The Service Unit Ristra Award

The Service Unit Ristra Award is a new recognition program honoring Service Units who achieve high standards in Girl Scouting through Service Unit accomplishments and activities during the "Chile" year (October 1 - September 30) and represents a well-rounded Service Unit.

Each Service Unit will receive:

A congratulatory letter and Service Unit Ristra certificate
A $25 VISA gift card to be used towards a Service Unit program event, training, or activity expense.
Recognition in our November Girl Scout Gazette monthly email, a special highlight in a Troop Essentials weekly email, and posted on the recognitions page of our council website

SU Ristra Award

Service Units must complete 10 of the 13 criteria outlined below:

45% of troops within the Service Unit participate in the most recent Early Bird/Spring Renewal membership campaign.
Hold a minimum of two Service Unit events.
Service Unit has seen a 2% growth in girl members from the 2023 membership year to the 2024 membership year.
Adults in your Service Unit attend two of the following training opportunities during the membership year:
- Service Unit Team Conference
- Volunteer Expo
- Outdoor Core Training
- Volunteer Essentials
- CPR/First Aide Training
- Wilderness First Aide Training
- Travel Training
- Troop Talk Sessions
- gsLearn Training
- Youth Mental Health First Aide
Service Unit submits Year End Activity Report (YEAR) to your Regional Manager before the July 1 deadline.
5% of troops within the Service Unit participate in the Fall Product Program.
10% of troops within the Service Unit participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program.
A troop within the Service Unit or the Service Unit itself participates in a public Girl Scout promotional opportunity.
Service Unit holds a minimum of 4 Service Unit meetings during the membership year.
Service Unit holds a social/networking/casual event for its troop leadership and volunteers.
Girl Scouts in your Service Unit are working toward or have earned the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award this year.
Service Unit has the following positions on its Service Unit Team:
- Service Unit Manager
- Service Unit Treasurer
- Service Unit Secretary
- Service Unit Product Program Manager - MagNut
- Service Unit Product Program Manager - Cookies
- Service Unit Events Manager
- Service Unit Membership Recruiter
Troop leadership within the Service Unit has submitted a nomination of a Service Unit volunteer for Volunteer Recognition during the spring Appreciation Luncheon and Ceremony.

The Juliette Chile Award

The Juliette Chile Award is an annual recognition program honoring Juliette Girl Scouts and their caregivers who achieve high standards in Girl Scouting through activities during the "Chile" year (October 1 - September 30) and represents a well-rounded Girl Scout.

Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts must complete five (5) of the below options.

Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts must complete eight (8) of the below options.

- Add one Girl Scout as a Juliette Girl Scout
- Recruit a new adult as a Girl Scout
- Help at a recruitment event at the Service Unit or council level
Parent/Caregiver attends a minimum of three Service Unit meetings
Attend one overnight experience with other Girl Scouts
Complete a Girl Scout Journey and Take Action Project
Parent/Caregiver attends two of the following training opportunities during the membership year:

- Begin working towards or have earned the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award this year.
- Participate in a community service project.
- Juliette parent/caregiver is using the Volunteer Toolkit (VTK)
- Juliette parent/caregiver serves in a leadership position on the Service Unit Team.
